Puck originally started as a university newspaper comic way back in the prehistoric days of 1998. It was reborn in 2011, and is now running weekly, in color. You can see the original run of eighty strips AND the new colour strips all here!
I apologize for the terrible compression on the colours here, but I don't have a subscription and that was the only way to get this page legible on Smackjeeves with their file size limit. The original didn't look this awful.
This strip is #80 in a series dating from my university days. Puck ran weekly for three full years in the Silhouette, McMaster University’s student newspaper.
So this is it: the final farewell. For this occasion, I managed to pull some strings with the head editor (Chris Watson, the guy who was the basis for Phoebe’s date), and he got me a full colour page – pretty nice, considering the fact that if you wanted to purchase a full-colour page in the newspaper, it cost you many thousands of dollars.
Those who’ve been reading since the beginning of the series will note that I’ve brought it right back to where it started: Puck watching soaps. I thought it was a nice little coda. And in a Shakespearean turn of events, Phoebe (the proverbial and lovable fool) ends up offering the greatest tidbit of wisdom. It’s an “awww” moment – kind of cheesy, but sincere on my end. You’ll note that I also finished off on a high note by giving the public what it asked for: Phoebe in a bikini.
